For a while last year or so, you could not walk anywhere in Mid-Town Manhattan at night without running into the production of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. While this movie was being made and, while I was being forced to walk around streets closed off to the production, I just could not figure out why something titled "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" would REQUIRE Mid-Town Manhattan as a shooting location. I actually got to the point where I recognized this very large truck that the production used to ferry two very expensive sports cars used by the film from one location to another around Mid-Town. Late one night, one street, I think it was Fifth Avenue, was completely closed from about 42nd Street to about 54th Street because "they were going to crash some cars". As I recall, there was even one instance in which the production for the movie was filming in an area between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue on 43 Street during mid-day. If you have ever seen mid-town Manhattan during rush hour or lunch hour, you know it is insane to try to maintain any kind of "order" to film a movie in Mid-Town during lunch time. Seeing The Sorcerer's Apprentice has to be the equivalent of taking a Tourist's Eye Tour of Mid-Town New York City. While I kept "running into" the production for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", I never once saw either of the two stars. I was told by someone that Nicholas Cage was the star of the movie. Looking at the trailer for the movie, it looks like all of the stuff shot around Mid-town at night were special effects and chase scenes, scenes that most likely used stunt doubles. -------------------- Marion Paige
