I didn't see Kill Bill in the theater because I thought the advertising for the movie looked silly. I didn't think that Uma Thurman would be believable in her role. However, I got interested in seeing Kill Bill once I saw some of it on TV. I saw some of Kill Bill Volume I and all of Kill Bill Volume II. Well, I just watched the DVD of Kill Bill Volume I and, what caught my attention is the Blood Spray. Quentin Tarantino employs this Blood Spray in Kill Bill that makes blood "streaming" from a body almost look like red lighting. The Blood Spray trick is very interesting ... The Spray accomplishes the task of being "bloody" without the messiness of blood splatter. Tarantino's Blood Spray actually reminds me of an old Kung Fu movie in which the bad guy was dispatched by being cut on the side of his neck in such a way that the blood spraying from his neck made this unique sound, a unique sound that the victim could hear while he was dying. In the movie, the bad guy was standing and dying with blood spraying from his neck when he expressed his amazement that the "killing technique" he had heard about so often was true. Santa Esmeralda I was a little surprised to hear a very long "intro" to the song Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood in Kill Bill Volume 1. There is no singing, the long intro is all guitar. Originally, this song was first released in 1964 by songer/pianist Nina Simone. UK rock band The Animals made a hit with this song in 1965. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" has been by music artists such as The Moody Blues, Elvis Costello, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Gary Moore, Robben Ford, and New Buffalo. Rapper Common sampled the original version of the song, as well as Lil' Wayne. Santa Esmeralda's version was featured in the 2003 film Kill Bill Vol. 1. youtube -------------------- Marion Paige
